COREY ROBERTS
Corey
joined Excel Swimming's coaching staff in 2014 after spending three years at
Team Total Training. He learned how to swim at the age of three back in
Australia, and
began training with his local swim club (East Keilor Swimming) at the age of
five. As his
swimming improved and became more refined, he began focusing more on his
favorite
stroke specialty - Breaststroke. By age nine, he was competing at the State
level.
Corey
became involved in triathlon at age 11, and by 15 years of age was racing
Olympic &
Half Iron distance events. When he turned 18, Corey completed his first Ironman
in Australia.
From the
age of 19 on, Corey travelled through Australia and the rest of the world
as a chef. He spent nearly six years chefing on some of the world's best cruise
lines.
Corey
moved to New York in 2003 and got back into triathlon. He has completed two Lake
Placid Ironman races, finished the Escape From Alcatraz Triathlon, and competed
in most
of the triathlon races held on Long Island. For several years, Corey also
managed the
EventPower events held on Long Island, taking them to a new athlete-experience
level.
Corey not
only coaches at Excel, but also works full-time for SunPower by
EmPower Solar and manages Race Awesome
multi-sport and running events.
