John Williamson has been swimming competitively for over 30 years. Originally
from Huntington, he swam at the University of Maryland where he was a six-time Atlantic
Coast Conference Finalist and captain of the swim team his senior year. John has competed
in ten U.S. National Championship meets in the 100 and 200 Breaststroke, swam in the US
Olympic Team Trials in 2000, and competed internationally in 2002 in Australia.

As a member and former captain of the New York Athletic Club swim team, John continued
to be involved in competitive swimming. He also had the opportunity to immerse himself in his
passion for the sport as a marketing and editorial executive for Rodale’s Swimmer Magazine from
2000 to 2002. While with the publication, John provided technical expertise and content for editorial,
worked extensively with major swimming organizations and businesses, and provided exclusive
coverage of national swim meets, Olympic Trials and the Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia.

Having coached masters swimmers at Maryland, as well as age group swimmers on Long
Island, John is excited to share his experience and expertise with Excel swimmers. John has
a passion for fitness and well-being; he believes in the competitive nature of every athlete
and strives for continued development of the mind and body of the athletes he coaches.

Interests and hobbies:
Swimming, boxing, basketball, weight lifting, yoga, trail running,
golf, and spending time chasing his three kids around the yard.
